Xiaomi’s financial plan Poco series needs no introduction as various models in the family have been quite popular due to being great value for money Android phone. The Poco M line is currently up to its fourth era with Poco M4 Pro 5G. At the less expensive finish range of the phone, budget phones usually compromise on one or more key specifications, but altogether, the Xiaomi Poco M4 Pro 5G appears to have almost everything and it truly stands out in undeniably increasing competitive market.

Xiaomi Poco M4 Pro 5G price in Pakistan is Rs. 39,999 with 4GB RAM and 62GB internal storage. It is available in Poco Yellow, Power Black and Cool Blue colour options.

Design

With oversized camera bump on shiny, double-toned rear, the Poco M4 Pro 5G offers more ostentatious looks as compared to other handsets at the similar price. Though the large-sized Poco logo can put some people off which is all plastic but of good quality and nicely done and the phone feels comfortable in the hand.

Body: It has a fine matte finish imitating metal with flat sides and the front side of the M4 5G also impart a very modern look. The middle frame is also made of plastic with quite thin bezels for a budget-friendly device.

Screen: With 6.6-inch screen the dimensions are 163.6 x 75.8 x 8.8mm (6.44 x 2.98 x 0.35 inches) and the weight of the handset is 195g (that’s 6.88 ounces). It feels quite light, and won’t essentially overload your pocket or your pack.

Controls: The volume rocker and a power button are on the right side of the phone. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom edge of the Poco M4 Pro 5G. The fingerprint sensor is built into the power button rather than the display. USB-C handles charging and data transfer.

Resistance: The phone has an IP53 rating for dust and splash protection and you cannot even expect full waterproofing on a phone at this price.

Display

The Poco M4 5G has a decent display with a 90Hz IPS LCD panel with 6.6-inch running at a resolution of 1080 x 2400 (making for a 20:9 aspect ratio). The only interruption to the screen is a circular cut-out up at the top, which belongs to the selfie camera.

Refresh rate: The display’s default refresh rate is 60Hz, but you can boost this up to 90Hzwhich would consume bit of more battery but there would be visible difference while playing games and watching videos.

Brightness: Brightness and contrast are not as high as they should be on a phone with an OLED display but they work fine in all dark and sunny conditions. If you don’t like the default settings with deep contrast and vivid brightness, then there are two other modes to pick from. Our M4 5G topped out at a measly 326 nits when maxing out the slider and an absolute max auto value of 410 nits.

The Poco M4 Pro’s cameras often struggles to focus on subjects but can capture fine quality images with well-balanced brightness. There is great deal of choices accessible on the camera. In the standard photo mode, you can zoom up to 10x amplification and the zoom action is quite smooth and stable.

Variations: There is a dual-lens 50MP+8MP camera with a standard resolution of 12MP however, if you have any desire to take bigger photographs you can switch to 50Mp mod only 2x magnification is offered. Ultrawide shots uses the 8Mp sensor which can also zoom in by up to 2x.

Front-Cam: Selfie camera is of 16Mp front camera giving realistic effect with skin smoother filter turned on by default. You can also turn the softener up, as well as make your eyes look huge and your face smaller or else you can completely turn it off.

Performance and software

Poco M4 Pro feels like a flagship device in terms of performance when it comes to browsing, checking mails and normal day to day usage. The model is the highest-specked with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage version with MediaTek Dimensity 810 chipset fitted inside the phone

Score: Only running some heavy-duty games could be a problem at times though Benchmark scores are better than the Poco M3 Pro. The Geekbench scores of 572 (single-core), 1,567 (multi-core) and 1,593 (OpenCL) testify.

Software: Software is Android 11, with Xiaomi’s MIUI 12.5 customer user interface on top. There’s a lot of services and games pre-installed, but most of them can be removed.

Battery and charging

The 5,000mAh battery in the Xiaomi Poco M4 Pro 5G reaches can last the standard one day of use with ease, The battery 96% charged from flat after an hour which is good enough as it lasts whole day with maximum usage. An hour of video streaming consumes around 9% off the battery with peak brightness and a low volume level, so it can lasst 11-12 hours overall.
