Punjab Institute of Cardiology Experiences Shortages of Vital Drugs for Patients

Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), a public sector cardiac health facility located in Punjab, India, is facing a serious shortage of essential medications for its in-house patients. PIC is the largest facility of its kind in the province, and serves thousands of people from across Punjab, including underprivileged patients who receive free medications.

According to a pharmacy department official at PIC, the hospital is experiencing shortages of medications used to treat cardiovascular diseases, blood pressure, and blood clots, among other conditions. The official stated that the hospital has informed the administration about the shortage of lifesaving drugs.

In response to the shortages, the hospital’s medical superintendent has said that they are taking legal action against hoarders and have begun procuring the unavailable drugs. It is hoped that the medications will be available soon.

The acute shortage of medications at PIC is a cause for concern, as the facility plays a vital role in providing essential healthcare services to the people of Punjab.
