Over One Million Nokia Feature Phones Produced in Pakistan

After setting up the assembly unit in Pakistan, just in a time period of six months, HMD global, the home of Nokia phones has achieved the milestone of production of over one million locally assembled mobile phones. Last year HMD global company has partnered with Techno Pak Electronics (private) Limited in setting up the assembly plant of Nokia phones in Pakistan. In 2021, it has invested an amount of $2 million in its factory and related channels which has created 500 jobs so far.

Nokia Phones continue to be a favourite product among different ages of mobile phone users in Pakistan for the past many years. The demand for our handsets has been evident in the local market with the production of over one million units in a very short span of time” said Country Manager Pakistan HMD Global, Arif Shafique. He added that their aim is to assemble the complete range of Nokia phones from Pakistan and the plant capacity is to produce over half a million mobile phones per month.  The HMD Gobal has contributed significantly to the economy of Pakistan through the transfer of technology to the local level, tax revenues to national currency, saving of foreign exchange and most importantly creating and providing local jobs.

Shafique added that the opening of opening facility in Pakistan is also a historic initiative and an important business decision and that they plan to scale up the productions every month to meet the demands of Pakistani consumer. He further expressed his hope that Pakistani contributors, authorities and regulators will continue to extend their full support to the industry for making investments and doing business in Pakistan. The assembly plant of Nokia established in 2021 in Korangi Karachi produces various designs of mobile phones with cutting-edge hardware tools, signature durability and user-friendly operating software.

HMD reached the top five position in more than 41 countries around the world, which were 35 countries during 2020, which is measured by the combined mobile phone market volume market share in 2021including Pakistan. Pakistan has an enduring association with Nokia mobile phones which has translated into strong brand affinity.
