Nadra to Devise System for Relief Goods Distribution in Sindh
Chairman NADRA Tariq Malik called on Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah at CM House Karachi.
Chairman NADRA gave a briefing on the development and provision of data related to ongoing relief activities in flood-affected areas of Sindh.
Briefing the CM Sindh, Chairman NADRA informed that NADRA employees, offices and NADRA operations have also been badly affected due to unprecedented torrential rains and floods.
He said that NADRA as a national organization is facing various challenges due to the situation created by floods and heavy rains. He said that on the one hand our employees are facing personal problems due to flooding situation and on the other hand they have started the process of making identity cards of flood affectees after restoring their affected operations.
He said that the NADRA offices in Sindh were damaged due to floods and heavy rains. 38 office buildings were severely affected by the rains due to which the operations of NADRA were also temporarily stopped.
Tariq Malik said that rehabilitation work was started on 20 affected NADRA offices on emergency basis. Technical systems and equipment were secured and operations were resumed by completing immediate rehabilitation of the buildings.
He said that additional mobile registration vans (MRVs) have been deployed outside the offices at all flood affected Tehsils so that the flood affectees can submit their ID card application by just giving their thumb prints.
Chairman NADRA said that taking immediate action, NADRA administration has deployed 18 mobile registration vehicles in the flood affected areas so that the flood victims can easily process their ID cards and get reliefs funds.
He said that especially mobile registration vehicles have been deployed in Tehsil Pano Akil, Kandhkot, Thull, Dokri, Thari Mir Wah,Pir Jo Ghot and Mehrab Pur to manage the influx of flood affectees at the offices at the these Tehsils.
While giving a briefing, Chairman NADRA said that apart from this, NADRA has extended the date of expiry of CNIC till 31 December 2022 in all the flood-affected districts of Sindh, including Badin, Dadu, Ghotki, Hyderabad, Jacobabad, Jamshoro, Qamber Shahdadkot, Kashmore, Khairpur, Larkana, Matiari, Mirpur Khas, Nowsheroferoz, Sangarh, Shaheed Benazirabad, Shikarpur, Sajawal, Sukkur, Tando Allah Yar, Tando Mohammad Khan, Thatta, and Umarkot.
In the briefing, Chairman NADRA said that the houses of 34 NADRA employees were completely damaged due to flood while the houses of around 700 employees were partially affected. Considering the current situation in the flood affected areas, NADRA’s role in relief activities and timely response is commendable, he informed.
He informed that NADRA offices in Kandhkot, Qaziabad, Shahdadkot, Dokri, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Thari Merwah and Mirpur Mathelo were completely affected by the flood water where NADRA operations are still suspended.
Tariq Malik informed the Chief Minister Syed Murd Ali Shah that NADRA is coordinating the process of identification of the unidentified bodies of the flood victims with the district administration along with providing facilities to the citizens regarding ID cards.
