Govt Should Reinstate Import Mobile Phone Components
The Pakistan Mobile Phone Manufacturers Association has requested the government to reinstate the permission to import mobile phone components and eliminate barriers to exporting mobile phones outside of Pakistan, therefore further promoting this sector at the government level. Exporting mobile phones can drastically cut Pakistan’s import bill and offer job possibilities for over 500,000 people throughout the nation.
According to Muzaffar Hayat Paracha, president of the Mobile Phone New Packing Association, 60 billion worth of mobile phones are produced and shipped in the nation yearly, and if government attention is provided, more mobile phones should be built in Pakistan. He said that the country’s Association of Mobile Phone Manufacturing Companies were in discussions with the government and requested that the authorization of mobile phone manufacturing companies to import mobile phone components be restored.
