Jazz collaboration with National Flood Relief Coordination Centre (NFRCC)

Jazz, Pakistan’s leading digital operator and the largest internet and broadband service provider, has developed an App for Seed Distribution for the farmers affected by floods. The app is part of Jazz’s commitment to provide technological support to the government for flood response and relief. It was developed in partnership with the National Flood Relief Coordination Centre.

The app will be released just in time for wheat plantations’ Rabi season.

The distribution of seeds, stock maintenance, claim submission, claim verification, and farmer registration are some of the primary aspects of this software.

Adoption of it will allow for efficient, transparent seed distribution to farmers.

The sector has also helped its teams with the integration of SMS rates, the framework for SMS rates, and short codes, all of which are under the direction of the Ministry of National Food Security & Research.

Ahsan Iqbal, Chairperson of the National Flood Response Coordination Centre (NFRCC), said during a discussion on the programme that farmers are currently rushing to rescue whatever they can, with mounting indebtedness and falling harvests. Given that 40% of Pakistan’s cotton crop was drowned, 15% of its rice crop was lost, and 4 million acres of crop land were swept away, it is critical that businesses lead the way in establishing such a tech-based alliance. It is encouraging to see Jazz come on board for this project and work with the government.
